Help and Tips! How to use our built-in Coptic Search:-
# General Tips:
- The search shown above and at the main pages, is a simple search.. After you hit the search button, you'll go to a new page, and will find more advanced options: "All words", "Any word", and "Exact phrase". Which are self explanatory. Phrase searches are particularly effective if you're searching for proper names ("Pope Shenouda"), ("In the name of the Father").. etc.
- When searching you can click in the "Search" button, or just hit "Enter" on the keyboard.
- Each search results page is divided into 25 results per page, click next to go to the next results page, or click on the the no. of page results index to go directly to it.
- If you get no or few results, try using different keywords, adding, editing or removing keywords..
- St-Takla.org searches are NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for saint anthony, Saint Anthony, and sAiNt AnThOnY will all return the same results.
- By default, St-Takla.org Coptic Search only returns pages that include all of your search terms. There is no need to include "and" between terms. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will affect the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more terms. For example, to find H. H, Pope Shenouda's official website, simply type Pope Shenouda website.
- St-Takla.org Coptic Search ignores common words and characters such as "where" and "how", as well as certain single digits and single letters, because they tend to slow down your search without improving the results.
- St-Takla.org Coptic Search uses a technology called "stemming", i.e. if you are searching for the word "Christ", you will get results that have: "Christ", "Christian", "Christianity".. etc. So, if you are not sure of the spelling of the rest of the word, you could write the first few letters, and this comes at handy in Arabic searches..
# Arabic Searches:
- There is a difference between the words that have different shapes of Alef hamza and the word that doesn't have it. So, if you get no results using a hamza or madda on the Arabic A letter, remove it and try your search again.
- Same goes with the "Yeh" ى letter, and its correspondent with two dots beneath ي.
- Also when you search and add the Arabic "And" letter "و", sticking it to the next word, would get you different results than when adding a space: this "والمسيح" is different than this "و المسيح".
