 الطريق إلى إثيوبيا و الوصول

Unfortunately, the flight was delayed 70 minutes!  Also I was surprised by knowing that we will have a stop at Khartoum, Sudan, for one hour! I thanked God for the Bishops being with us on the same plane, so there won’t be any annoyances to the dear brothers and sisters waiting for us at Addis Ababa Airport .

للأسف تأخرت الطائرة عن موعد إقلاعها سبعون دقيقة!  وكذلك فوجئت بإخبارنا بتوقف الطائرة ترانزيت في الخرطوم لمدة ساعة!  وشكرت الله على تدبيره بوجود نيافة الآباء الأساقفة معنا على نفس الطائرة لئلا أسبب أيّة مضايقة للأخوة الأحباء الموجودين في الانتظار في مطار أديس أبابا.

 

Next day (Thursday April 10, 2008), we went in the morning back to the Airport to receive H. G. Bishop Antonious Markos, coming from Johannesburg, after a one-day transit in Nairobi, Kenya.  H. G. Metropolitan Argawy (Abune Argawi) from the Ethiopian Church was waiting also for Him.  And we went to the Headquarters of the Ethiopian Church, where His Holiness Abune Paulos Patriarch of Ethiopia was there.

في اليوم التالي وهو الخميس 10 إبريل 2008، ذهبنا أولاً إلى المطار لاستقبال الأنبا أنطونيوس مرقس قادماً من جوهانزبرج بعد ترانزيت يوم في نيروبي، وكان في استقباله الأنبا أرجاوي (أبونا أرجاوي) الحبشي، وذهبنا إلى مقر البطريركية الإثيوبية ومقر قداسة البطريرك أبونا باولص بطريرك أثيوبيا. 

 

There I met with Bishop Bishoi and Bishop Petros of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and some Ethiopian Metropolitans and Bishops.  Later I went to the nearby St. Mary Church (Kidust Mariam).  After that I learned that this Church was a present from the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt to the Ethiopian Church, and it was built with the same exact design of the Patriarchate in Cairo..  But many changes were made to it, that changed the Egyptian or Coptic characteristics of it..  Now, the Coptic Orthodox Church has a small Church at the same building, and it is used for prayers to the Coptic congregation residing in Ethiopia.

وتقابلت في المقر مع الأنبا بيشوي والأنبا بطرس وبعض الآباء الأساقفة الأحباش، وذهبت بعدها إلى كنيسة القديسة مريم الملاصقة للبطريركية.  وعلمت بعدها أن كنيسة كيديستا مريم Kidust Mariam هي هدية من مصر إلى الكنيسة الحبشية، ومبنية بنفس طابع البطريركية في مصر .  ولكن تمت تغييرات كثيرة بها، وغطت على الطابع المصري أو القبطي فيها..  وحالياً، أخذت الكنيسة القبطية في نفس المبنى بها كنيسة صغيرة لتقوم بالصلاة فيها للمجتمع القبطي الصغير الموجود في إثيوبيا.
