65) You told of the Day of Your Feast

الثلاثاء 20 مايو – الساعة الثانية إلا الثلث فجراً

Today was yet another day that I felt the hand of Saint Teklehaimanot in a strong way..  Yes, I mentioned this many times..  But it happened and it is still happening!

اليوم كان يوماً آخر من الأيام التي شعرت فيها بيد الأنبا تكلا هيمانوت بصورة قوية..  نعم، كررت هذا كثيراً..  ولكنه حدث ويحدث!

I went at noon to the National Archives and Library Agency of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, which I did visit before asking for books and microfilms about St. Taklehaimanot, and I was told to bring a supporting letter from my organization first, so I can be able to use the services of the Library..  I thought of giving them one of the permission documents I got from the Ethiopian Patriarchate of the Addis Ababa Diocese, as in it there was the name, and my organization which was Saint Takla Haymanout Coptic Orthodox Church in Alexandria..

ذهبت ظهر اليوم إلى مكتبة الأرشيف القومي الإثيوبي في أديس أبابا، حيث كنت قد زرتها سابقاً بحثاً عن كتب وملفات على الميكروفيلم عن القديس تكلاهيمانوت، وقيل لي أنه يجب أن أُحضِر ورقة من المنظمة التابع لها أولاً، حتى أستفيد من خدمات المكتبة..  ففكرت أن أقدم لهم إحدى التصريحات التي أخذتها من البطريركية الحبشية، وهو تصريح إيبارشية أديس أبابا، حيث يوجد بالتصريح الاسم والهيئة التابع لها، وهي كنيسة الأنبا تكلا هيمانوت القبطية بالإسكندرية..

 

 

I woke up late as usual, and arrived there at 12:30 p. m., and I went directly to the Library of Ethiopian Studies, and I was told to go to one of the offices to make an ID Card, and when I went there, they told me to come after the lunch break at 1:30.  So I went outside and headed for the museum of the Postal Office to use the time, but they were also in their lunch break..  I wandered around in Churchill Road, which is a big and famous street, full with Ethiopian hand-made shops..  When I got back and gave them the paper, it was the original, they accepted it and were going to stamp it to keep it, I told them that this was the original, and it was the one I would use to present to different organizations in Addis Ababa.  They told me to make a copy, and they also told me that there was no electric power that day!  Which meant to come the next day..  When there is no electric power, it usually takes 12 hours to come back, which would be around 9:00 p. m.  So I asked if they can take a copy on a CD?!  As I had the portable pc and the digi cam (Digital Camera)..  They accepted..  I took the photo, and put it on the pc, but I didn’t have a CD to give them the file on, and they had nothing but 3.5 floppy disk..  Although I got an external floppy drive with the laptop, but I didn’t bring it to Ethiopia.  So I went outside looking for a shop to buy a CD..  A few meters from the Library I heard some humming, I knew from the sound that it was an electric generator, so I asked the guard of that office about a place with a photocopier, he pointed at the office next door, and it was an office for some journalists, seems like a Journal office!!  I asked about the possibility to photocopy, and it was done..  In the Library I presented the copy, it was approved, and put in a file, then I went with the woman in charge to an office, for a signature, then to a third office.  At that office I was told that that paper was not directed to them, and they were not one of those who got a copy of the copies shown at the footer of the permission, we would have accepted it if it didn’t have the header of being directed to the Diocese of Addis Ababa, or the footer of the copies..!  Then this manager took me to the manageress of the Ethiopian Studies, microfilms and manuscripts sections.  She was the one who told me previously that there were books and microfilms of the story of St. Taklehaimanot when I asked her the first time.  After a long talk, and it was already 2:30, we went out together to a fifth office!  And other talks at the first office..!  Then I was allowed by the manager to go to the section, for research and reading, but not photocopying or writing any of the contents..

استيقظت متأخراً كالعادة، وذهبت حوالي الساعة الثانية عشر والنصف ظهراً، ودخلت مباشرة لقسم الدراسات الإثيوبية، وقيل لي أن أذهب إلى أحد المكاتب لأقوم بعمل اشتراك في المكتبة والحصول على كارت إثبات هوية I. D.، وعندما ذهبت قيل لي أن آتي بعد راحة الغذاء الساعة الواحدة والنصف.  فخرجت خارج المبنى، وتوجهت إلى متحف البوسطة لأستفيد بالوقت حتى تمر الساعة، وكان العاملين به كذلك في راحة الغذاء..  فتمشيت في المنطقة المحيطة في شارع تشرشل، وهو من الشوارع الكبيرة والشهيرة، وبه العديد من محال المشغولات اليدوية الإثيوبية..  وعندما عدت، قدمت الورقة، وكانت هي الأصل، وقبلوها، وعندما كانوا سيختمونها ليحتفظون بها، أخبرتهم أنها هي الأصل، وهي نسختي التي أقدمها في الهيئات المختلفة بأديس أبابا.  فقيل لي أن أقوم بعمل نسخة، وقيل لي أيضاً أنه لا يوجد تيار كهربائي في هذا اليوم!  أي: تعال غداً..  ومعروف أن التيار الكهربائي عندما يتم فصله عن منطقة معينة، يكون حوالي 12 ساعة، تستمر حتى التاسعة مساء..  فقلت لهم، ماذا إذا أعطيتهم نسخة على قرص ممغنط؟!  حيث كان معي الكمبيوتر المحمول، والكاميرا..  فقبلوا الأمر..  وقمت بتصوير التصريح، ووضعه على الكمبيوتر، ولكن لم يوجد لديهم ولا معي قرص ممغنط لأعطيهم الملف عليه..  وأعطتني إحدى المسئولات ديسك 3.5 لأضع عليه الملف..  ومعظم اللاب توب لا يوجد بهم فلوبي درايف للديسكات. .  على الرغم من أنني قمت بشراء واحد مع اللابتوب، ولكني لم أحضره معي إلى أثيوبيا.  فخرجت خارج المبنى لأبحث عن محل أقوم بشراء سي دي منه..  وعلى بُعد خطوات من المكتبة، سمعت صوت أزيز عالٍ، وعرفت على الفور أنه صوت ماكينة مولد كهرباء، فسألت حارس واقف على أحد المباني عن ماكينة تصوير، فأشار إلى المكتب بجانبه، وكان مكتباً لبعض الصحفيين، يبدو أنه مكتب جريدة!!  وسألت عن إمكانية التصوير، وتم الأمر ببساطة..  ثم دخلت لتقديم النسخة، وتم اعتمادها، ووضعها في ملف، ثم ذهبت مع المسئولة إلى مكتب  آخر، وحصلت على إمضاء، ثم منه إلى مكتب ثالث.  وفيه قيل لي أن هذه الورقة ليست موجهة لهم، والنسخ المُرسلة لهيئات الموضحة بالتصريح هم ليسوا من ضمنها، وأنهم كانوا سيقبلونها إذا كانت بدون المقدمة الخاصة بأنها إلى إيبارشية أديس أبابا، أو لو لم يكن بها النسخ المُرسلة..!  ثم صحبني مدير المكتب إلى مديرة قسم مكتبة الدراسات الحبشية ومركز الميكروفيلم والمخطوطات.  وهي التي أخبرتني سابقاً بوجود كتب وملفات ميكروفيلم عن الأنبا تكلا هيمانوت عندما سألتها أول مرة.  وبعد حديث طويل، وكانت الساعة الثانية والنصف الآن، خرجا معاً، وتوجها إلى مكتب خامس!  ومناقشات أخرى في المكتب الأول..!  ثم أخيراً قال لي نائب المدير أن أذهب إلى القسم المُراد، وأقوم بالبحث والقراءة، ولكن دون تصوير أو نسخ أي من المحتويات..
